Jon Reiss Talks Marketing & Distribution of Independent Films
Last spring we had the pleasure of bringing filmmaker Jon Reiss into one of our Film School classes to talk about the new world of marketing and distributing independent films. As a critically acclaimed filmmaker, Jon used a hybrid distribution model to release his own film Bomb It. He discovered that there was no single resource for filmmakers where information to release their film in today’s media landscape existed. As a result of this, he found himself reinventing the wheel and watched other filmmakers shoot themselves in the foot.
As a solution for filmmakers who have bombarded him with emails and questions on this topic, he began writing Think Outside the Box Office: The Ultimate Guide to Film Distribution and Marketing in the Digital Era.
The book is a break through, step-by-step nuts and bolts guide to distributing and marketing a film. Each chapter addresses an essential aspect of a film’s release and offers specific techniques so filmmakers can take control of their distribution and marketing destiny.
The book is now available to our current and former students exclusively through the books website with a 12% discount and a large variety of bonus gifts.
