General Information
The Colorado Film School, located in Denver, is the finest film school in the western states region offering a one year Advanced Immersion program, Certificates, Associates, and Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees.
The Colorado Film School offers a variety of programs: An Advanced Immersion Program of 60 credits of film/video courses delivered in 11 short months, AAS degrees and certificates with 45 credits of film/video courses delivered over a more conventional academic schedule, and AGS degree programs that articulate into a BS degree at Metro State University or a BFA with five different emphasis areas through Regis University at the Colorado Film School.
A new agreement between Community College of Aurora/CFS and Regis creates a seamless, integrated program offered at the Colorado Film School facilities with many shared faculty, and wholly shared equipment and resources. CCA’s Colorado Film School offers the first three years of the program, with 90 credits of articulated transfer into Regis University’s 129 credit BFA delivered at the Colorado Film School.
The unique synthesis between a community college program with both a vocational and an academic program, and a highly reputable private university with a focus on academic education and career advancement creates an ideal educational environment for students wanting to work in film and media – the language of the global marketplace.
The BFA degree completion program delivered at CFS by Regis offers one of the most affordable and focused professional degree programs available in the world. Our students hail from Colorado and most of the states in the union as well as from Canada, South America, Asia, Europe, and Africa.
As the Regis BFA program is new, both institutions plan to achieve NASAD accreditation (National Association of Schools of Art and Design, the most widely recognized accrediting body for Film Schools) in the next year or two. The CCA/CFS and Regis BFA program has been designed to meet and exceed NASAD requirements.
We have an excellent faculty of working professionals who practice what they teach. The cities of Denver and Aurora offer a rich and varied cultural setting, and our famous mountains and ski resorts are only an hour away. The Starz Denver Film Festival brings hundreds of films and filmmakers from around the world each fall. We have a lively visiting artist roster that grows with industry luminaries each semester.
More important than our impressive facilities and equipment, is our emphasis on the art of storytelling in the collaborative environment of film and media production. Our hallways and lounges are as important as our classrooms and studios, as this is where our students cluster together to share, inspire, and collaborate on their next projects. This is where students develop teams and friendships that will last them a lifetime.
Please compare our facilities, faculty, infrastructure, curriculum, cost, mission, and the quality of our student work to any film school in the world. I am confident that you will find us to be one of the best designed and equipped, student-oriented programs around.
We are actively seeking imaginative students who are focused, energetic, ambitious, and eager to hone their professional skills for entry into a highly competitive field. We are the new and rising force in film/video education, and we challenge you to join us!
